Debt Collection 101

Debt Collection 101 Debt Management Services (DMS) will host Debt Collection 101 training for federal agency employees on January 26, 2017. There is no charge for this training.

This training is for those who are fairly new to debt collection, but also serves as a valuable refresher for more experienced personnel. It is based on Chapter 6 of Fiscal Service's Managing Federal Receivables, "Delinquent Debt Collection" and will provide a step-by-step overview of the techniques and tools available to collect non-tax debts owed to the federal government, including information on how to develop a debt collection strategy for specific classes of debts. Among the topics covered will be debt collection legal authorities; portfolio management and creditor agency responsibilities and, Treasury's Cross-Servicing and Offset Programs.

Registration will be open until January 19, 2017, or until the session is full. Please register using the button below.

DMS will send out Webinar sign-on access and handout information to registered attendees prior to the webinar.
